The day of December 21st, 2012, was not a disaster because Americans, Guatamala goverment, Mayan Indians, British and Chinese wanted to scare there citizens in to behaving them selves and not getting to riots, rebellious, work-shy and/or drunk at the Millennium parties.
As for the rest, it was cooked most of it up to promote there pseudo-significant pseudo-science culture. As far as I can tell, corrupt Western bankers, global warming, meteorite impact, atomic war, cosmic exposure do to a weakening magnetosphere, super-volcano and an Ebola/flu plague will eventually cause a fatal crisis
The Year 2000 problem (also known as the Y2K problem, the Millennium bug, the Y2K bug, or simply Y2K) only caused a few problems like when Australian bus-ticket-validation machines in two states failed to operate and 150 slot machines at race tracks in Delaware stopped working. It was not the end of the world.
