The 2008 United States presidential election was the 56th quadrennial presidential election, held on November 4th, 2008. The Democratic Ticket of U.S Senator Bernard "Bernie" Sanders from Vermont and U.S Representative Dennis Kucinich from Ohio defeated the Republican Ticket of U.S Senator John McCain from Arizona and Governor Sarah Palin from Alaska. Sanders defeated McCain in a landslide victory. Sanders and Kucinich were inaugurated on January 20th, 2017, as President and Vice President.
