History  []

In October 2020 at the death of the New Zealand scientists at the UN established jurisdiction over the Antarctic bases. This was done to ensure that the Antarctic base self-sufficiency committee implemented strategies that would make the continent self-sufficient. In December 2021 the Antarctic bases became known as the Federation of Antarctic outposts. This was done to encourage international cooperation, scientific achievement and to protect the scientists who lived on the continent during the summer. By 2026 the Federation no longer relied on exports from the mainland except for scientific equipment and personnel. On July 1, 2028 Scott base received the last message from the UN at 7 PM. the message said there's been a nuclear attack prepare to implement self-sufficiency procedures. the hydrothermal inductions power plants  were checked and turned on. The lead scientist make sure that the vehicles world powered up. bacteria cultures were also grown and the and the hydroponic domes were secured and more food began to be produced. All Internet connections ceased on November 3, 2028. Phone communications felt the following day. It was clear that the Federation of Antarctic outposts were on their own. A memorial was established near Scott base in memory of all the scientists families who were killed in the nuclear war. starting in 2030 a project to install a geothermal induction engine on an old ship began. This project is having little success. On the 10th anniversary of the great nuclear war ships from India and Brazil arrived at the Federation of Antarctica posts. Many scientists left for Brazil and India. Many scientists however have little go to go back to and they stayed Antarctica. The Federation of Antarctica outposts continues to trade with Brazil and India along with the Commonwealth and federations of the former United States. Antarctica led the world in technology by by 2041.

The 2050s to the 2080s  []

The first commercial geodesic dome was built in 2050. By the time of 2060 Antarctica had a year-round population of 100,000. overall 50% of the Antarctic bases are still reserved for scientific achievements however the remaining 50% is devoted to civilians and residences. Many refugees from the former United States and former Russia founded many new communities. By far the largest Antarctic base the Amazonian base opened on January 31, 2061 this became the largest ever civilian research base on the continent. by 2080 the Federation of Antarctica outposts led the world in scientific innovation and environmental sustainability. The population continues to grow and it leads the world in the production of advanced technologies.

Technology[]

On August 31, 2019, 13 New Zealand scientists died as a result of the failure of a cargo ship that was delivering food. As a result the international community set up the Antarctic self-sufficiency committee. This committee was meant to establish new technologies that would make Antarctic bases self-sufficient and which would make the scientists much less viable to loss of supplies. On September 7, 2022 hydroponic established on all 21 year round Antarctic bases. The following year in 2023 all Antarctic bases implement this technology. On December 10, 2023, Fatima Yousif a UK chemist and food scientist perfected invented a method to produce lab grown meat on a large scale. She genetically modified bacteria cultures to produce pork, chicken, fish, insect protein and any other type of meat. This technology was revolutionary and reduced mankind's reliance on livestock. The Antarctic base self-sufficient committee adopted her technology and by January 2024 he was the lead scientist at amundsen–scott south pole station. She was also the first recipient of the Nobel Prize for sustainability. On October 23, 2024 she also created the hydrothermal induction engines. This allowed Antarctic vehicles to be powered by snow and ice. This technology can also be used to provide all electricity for the Antarctic bases. This meant that Antarctica was fully self-sufficient and no longer relied on deliveries. Between the years 2024 and 2026 a series of 6 geodesic domes were created these bases produce crops, and animal proteins for the scientists. As a result of this self-sufficient technology. When the great nuclear war occurred in 2028 the basis of the Antarctic were entirely self-sufficient. The scientists were not in danger of starvation or loss of power however they lost their families and completely lost contact with the outside world.
