On January 8, 1988, the Dumont media company purchased Radio City Music Hall - a famous New York City landmark that was in danger of demolition in the late 70s. However, it was saved from destruction by former first lady Jackie Kennedy and Senator of California Vincent Price. Radio City Music Hall still had financial difficulties during the 1980s and was in danger of complete financial collapse. Eventually, the Dumont Corporation of America purchased this American landmark and refurbished it. In 1993, Radio City Music Hall was renamed Dumont City Music Hall.
