The Great War of 2077, generally referred to as the Great War or simply just the War was an approximately 3-hour long nuclear exchange between several nuclear powers on October 23/24, 2077. It killed over 3.5 billion people within 24-hours and an additional 2-3 billion in the next 2 years from radiation, sickness, and fallout. By the end of the day, all participant governments ceased to exist- or at least ceased to hold any authority. Within a week, the majority of world governments- including neutral nations- would collapse. The war completely reshaped the course of human history, with humanity barely recovered over 300 years later.
