On June 8, 2044, a massive typhoon destroyed the city of Hong Kong. in this disaster ,3 million people died in the Chinese government abandoned the city. Funded by the Singapore investment group Eloi a massive artificial island complex was built in order to rebuild the ruins of Hong Kong and to prevent sea level from destroying what was left. This project and taking 33 years and cost 500 billion. The city became known as new Hong Kong and it became part of the country of Singapore. The people of this city voted to join Singapore because they were tired of the repression of the Chinese government that is affecting their country since the 1990s. The new Hong Kong project improved Singapore's reputation and how to become the world power that it became in the 22nd and 23rd centuries. The taking over of Hong Kong by Singapore was very controversial however human rights drastically improved in new Hong Kong after it became part of Singapore. Singapore and new Hong Kong became the economic powerhouses of Asia well into the 25th century.
