The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, abbreviated to USSR or more commonly shortened to the Soviet Union, is a Marxist-Leninist state on the Eurasian continent founded in 1917. It is governed as a Single-Party Communist state.

The Soviet Union is percieved as one of, if not the, most powerful country in the world, and is the only superpower aside from the United States.

Government and Politics

The de facto highest position within the Soviet Government is the General Secretary of the Soviet Union. The titular head of state is the Chairman of the Politburo and the head of government is the Premier of the Soviet Union.
