The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, abbreviated to USSR or more commonly shortened to the Soviet Union, is a Marxist-Leninist state on the Eurasian continent founded in 1917. It is governed as a Single-Party Communist state.
The Soviet Union is percieved as one of, if not the, most powerful country in the world, and is the only superpower aside from the United States.
Government and Politics
The Union of Soviet Socialist Republics is a single-party Marxist-Leninist state under the rule of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union (CPSU). The governing body of the Soviet Union emulates the "Troika" system introduced by undisputed Soviet Leader Joseph Stalin, where power would be spread out between 3 people.
The titular head of government is the Premier of the Council of Ministers, first held by Georgy Malenkov. The titular head of state is the Chairman of the Politburo, first held by Lazar Kaganovich, and the head of the party and nominal commander-in-chief is the General Secretary of the CPSU, first held by Vyacheslav Molotov.
