In 2043 on January 1 the Antarctic healthcare program was unveiled. This program provides free healthcare for all research scientists and civilians who lives in the Antarctic. This was one of the first extensive healthcare programs on the continent. In the 2040s Antarctica was one of the few countries that have universal healthcare. this healthcare program also provided extremely inexpensive drugs. This was considered the world's best healthcare program and attracted immigrants from all over the world. By 2059 the Antarctic healthcare program and one multiple international boards and the UN viewed it as a role model for other countries. Historians now consider the Antarctic healthcare program was the best social programs of the 2040s. This was fairly unusual because the 2040s are now synonymous with chaos, unrest and nationalism.
Haley Korman was one of the architects who created the Antarctic healthcare program. She was a doctor from the former United States who moved to Antarctica in the 2030s after she escaped political unrest in independent Republic of Texas. She believed that ordered for the Antarctic to be successful country they need to implement a universal healthcare program in order to protect the health needs of all of its citizens. Eventually she was successful and her actions directly led to the founding of the Antarctic healthcare program. She also eventually one a Nobel Peace Prize in 2045.
