After the nuclear war of 1982 the economy of France along with the rest of Western Europe. It is the worst economic crisis that the country had faced since the Great Depression. It led to widescale protests, riots and a temporary suspension of civil liberties. There is also military coup d'état led by rogue Gen. Eventually the government was restored to power and democracy was reestablished. In order to ensure that the French government would never again be in danger of collapsing the French government declared the seventh French Republic which was a commitment into working with all the people of France in order to find a solution for the economic crisis and the political instability of Western Europe. The French government also made a commitment to learning in 100,000 refugees from the former city of London and the surrounding area. The economy of France largely recovered by the 1990s and it was one of the few European countries to stay successful after 1982.
