The Simpsons was an animated TV show that premiered on the Fox network in 1989. Back then the Fox network was an independent network. In 1993, The Simpsons along with all the content from the Fox network was bought by the Dumont Television Company which was one of America's most powerful media companies in the 1990s. Many people fear that Dumont would not continue the Simpsons. However, you must recognize citizens with an extremely popular brand so they kept it. The Dumont Network also created the Springfield show which was a miniseries that talked about the more minor characters in The Simpsons. In 2001, the Dumont Network released The Simpsons movie which was extremely successful and their biggest commercial success. Three more sequels also follow. The acquisition of Simpsons made Dumont even more successful. There's also a Simpsons world that was built by the Dumont Company on the former site of Brooklyn, New York. This theme Park attracted millions of visitors all year and opened a sister location in 2009 near Disneyland.
