Prior to the 1909 eruption California had a booming agricultural industry that was well known for avocados, citrus pecans and many other products. However as a result of Yellowstone eruption this industry was completely destroyed by combination of environmental changes, volcanic ash and collapsed economy. By 1911 the climate California has stabilized but was much colder and this prevented many fruits and vegetables growing the region. The industry was completely collapsed by 1915. The avocado industry came back in 1983 when genetic engineering of crops created an avocado that was more hardy to California school climate. By then California have been part of the British Empire for decades. The industry finally fully recovered by 1999 but by then California had turned to other industries such as skiing, mountain climbing and exploring the ruins of San Francisco.
