- The League of Nations is established as an international organisation to maintain world peace. President Woodrow Wilson successfully petitions to have the USA join the organisation.
- A referendum in Greece is favorable to the reinstatement of the monarchy.

- Women can vote for the first time in America. Democratic President Woodrow Wilson becomes the first president in history to win a third term against Republican Calvin Coolidge.

- The Spanish Flu ends with an estimate between seventeen million to fifty million dead. It would be the last global pandemic until the 2009 swine flu pandemic almost 90 Years Later.
- The 1920 Summer Olympics are held in Antwerp, Belgium. The United States takes home the most medals.
- Edward, Prince of Wales marries Lady Doris Hilda Gordon-Lennox in a lavish ceremony.

- Vice President Franklin Roosevelt dies whilst on vacation in Italy.
- Paris declaration: Representatives of the three states of Transcaucasia and the North Caucasus (the Armenian, Azerbaijani and Georgian Socialist Soviet Republics) proclaim their independence, establishing a customs union and military alliance, not internationally recognized.
- The Anglo-Irish Treaty establishing the Irish Free State, an independent nation incorporating 26 of Ireland's 32 counties, is signed in London.

- Russian famine of 1921–22 begins; roughly 5,000,000 die.
